UN health officials have called an emergency meeting to discuss swine flu, amid rumours that the first global flu pandemic in 40 years will be declared.

The H1N1 strain has spread to 74 countries now with new cases being reported daily. So what can you do to help prevent spreading the infection?

• Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, using a tissue
• Throw the tissue away quickly and carefully
• Wash your hands regularly with soap and water
• Clean hard surfaces (like door handles and remote controls) frequently with a normal cleaning product

• Museums

• Supermarkets
