Nexus Portal – CONNECTING YOUR NEXUS UNIT TO THE PORTAL
(Connecting to the Internet, Wifi, Ethernet)

Connecting your Nexus Unit to the Internet



To access your Nexus unit via the Portal it will need to be connected to the internet. This can be done using any Wifi or Ethernet network.
Ethernet: To connect via ethernet, please refer the the following section – Connecting via Ethernet
Wifi: To connect via Wifi please refer to the following section – Connecting via Wifi

Connecting via Ethernet

Step 1


To access the ethernet connection on the main board you will need to remove the two cover screws at the bottom of the case.


Step 2


Remove the front cover by sliding it up towards the ceiling.
PLEASE NOTE: The screen is attached to the cover with wires, so please take care not to damage these as you lift it up
Use the hooks at the top of the enclosure to hold the cover in place.

Step 3



Now that the PCB’s are exposed you can slot the ethernet connector into the following slot on the main board.


Step 4


After connecting the ethernet cable you can remove the insert on the case to run the cable out to the router.

Step 5


Once the ethernet cable has been connected to the unit you can replace the cover and reattach the cover.


Step 6


To confirm that the Ethernet connection has worked, look at the main screen and confirm the following Ethernet Symbol is showing.

If the unit has a successful internet connection and has managed to communicate with the Portal you will also see the second Infinity Symbol.

Once you have both of the above symbols you are ready to register your unit on the Portal. Please refer to the following section – Registering your Nexus unit on the Portal.

Connecting via Wifi

Step 1



To connect your Nexus unit via Wifi, please refer to the following setup through the Nexus App – Wifi Settings
(The Nexus app can be downloaded here).

Step 2


Once the unit has successfully connected to the Wifi network you will see the following symbol.

If the unit has a successful internet connection and has managed to communicate with the Portal you will also see the second Infinity Symbol.

Once you have both of the above symbols you are ready to register your unit on the Portal. Please refer to the next section.

Registering your Nexus Unit on the Portal

Step 1


Now that you have connected your Nexus unit to the internet you will need to link this to your Portal account. To access the QR code you will need to remove the two cover screws at the bottom of the case. As seen here:

Step 2


Lift up the front cover and slot this onto the slots provided at the top of the case.

Step 3


Now that the circuit board is revealed take your mobile phone and scan the QR code located on the main PCB here.

Step 4


Once you have scanned the QR code on the unit the Portal will open up with a registration form. Enter the Unique Register Code (If you do not know this please check this section) and the other details. Press the Register Unit button to save.

Step 5


Now that the unit is registered on your Organisation account you will can assign it to the Customer & Site you created before. (If you have not created a Customer or Site yet, please refer back to this previous section – Setting up your Customer & Site)
To access the units waiting to be assigned to your customers press the New Nexus Registration icon on the homepage.

Step 6


Locate the unit waiting to be assigned to your Customer & Site and click on the Edit button on the right of the unit bar. Within the unit assign menu you can select the Customer & Site you wish to allocate it to. Press the Save Changes button to complete the setup.

Step 7


Now that your unit has been assigned to your customer, you can locate it in the System Database. Locate this via the home page or the top menu to access your units. You can now see your unit listed. If you select the unit and Connect to Unit, you will download the unit settings. Your unit is now ready to use.
